Anxiety affects:
- Our emotions
- Our thoughts
- Our feelings (the sensations we have in our bodies)
Anxiety can affect everything we do. Our thoughts, our emotions and our feelings all connect and inter-relate - our emotions are especially influenced by what we do and by what we think. The good news is that because anxiety affects our thoughts, emotions, feelings and behaviour, if we change any one of these, we can begin to change them all.
Some people use the words 'emotions' and 'feelings' to mean the same thing. We'll use the term 'emotions' to mean experiences such as fear or sadness and 'feelings' to mean the physical sensations which accompany them, such as physical tension or sweating.
